🛏️ Bed Bug Mythbusters: What Most People Get Wrong

This week, I’m clearing up some of the biggest misconceptions I hear about bed bugs. These myths can lead to costly mistakes — and in some cases, even missed legal opportunities.

❌ MYTH: Bed bugs only live in dirty places.

FACT: Bed bugs don’t care how clean a place is. They’re hitchhikers — all they need is a host and a hiding spot. Even luxury hotels and high-end rentals have had infestations.

❌ MYTH: You’ll know right away if you’ve been bitten.

FACT: Reactions to bed bug bites can take hours — or even days — to show up. Some people don’t react at all. That’s why documenting your environment matters just as much as the bites.

✅ FACT: Bed bugs inject a numbing agent when they bite.

You won’t feel the bite when it happens — which is why people often don’t notice until much later, after they’ve brought them home or unpacked.

✅ FACT: Legal action is possible.

If a hotel, rental property, or landlord knew (or should have known) about a bed bug issue and failed to act, you may have a legal case. That includes compensation for medical treatment, emotional distress, property damage, and more.
